A UniColorado installation
There’s more to it than the outdoor unit.
The indoor equipment matters just as much. Select a part of this installation to see what it does.
The furnace remains part of a dual fuel system.
Its blower circulates air when the heat pump is running. Its gas burner supplies heat when the controls call for furnace operation. This installation uses a new furnace.

What goes into the installation
Check the house and existing equipment
We look at the furnace, ductwork and electrical panel. The equipment needs to fit the space and move enough air through the house.
Choose the equipment
The quote should name the outdoor heat pump and the indoor equipment paired with it. It should also explain any changes to the ducts or electrical supply.
Connect the indoor and outdoor units
The installation includes refrigerant lines, wiring and drainage. Placement matters too: the outdoor unit needs room for airflow and service access.
Test the system and set the thermostat
We check operation and set up the controls for the equipment installed. Before we leave, we show you how to use the thermostat and change the filter.
Get the installation and rebates on the same quote.
Ask for the full installation price, each rebate included, and the amount you pay. The equipment, work at your house and rebate eligibility all affect that final amount.
UniColorado handles the rebate paperwork and applies eligible rebates as an upfront discount on the installation.
Any panel or ductwork changes should be included in the scope, with their cost made clear before you agree to the job.

Common questions
Can I keep my current furnace?
Possibly. We need to check its condition, blower and compatibility with the heat pump. Keeping gas heat does not necessarily mean keeping the same furnace.
Will I need a new electrical panel?
A heat pump needs a suitable electrical circuit. Whether your panel can supply it depends on the equipment and the other loads in your house. We check that before quoting electrical work.
What if I want to go all electric?
We can plan for that. With a ducted all-electric system, an air handler replaces the gas furnace. We also need to account for backup heat and its electrical requirements.
Is a mini split a heat pump?
Yes. A ductless mini split heats and cools through indoor units in the rooms it serves. A central heat pump uses your home's ductwork.
