Start with the equipment being replaced
Adding a heat pump to a compatible furnace is a different project from replacing the furnace and outdoor unit together. An all-electric conversion changes the indoor equipment and can change the electrical work.
Ask the contractor to identify which project they are pricing.
Get the complete scope
The proposal should identify the outdoor unit, indoor coil or air handler, controls and installation work. Ask whether duct changes, electrical work and removal of the old equipment are included.
A lower headline price does not tell you what was left out.
Separate the price from the discounts
