Read the model numbers
A brand name alone does not identify a system. Compare the outdoor model with the indoor coil, furnace or air handler listed beside it. Capacity and controls also matter.
Check the indoor work
One quote may retain your furnace while another replaces it. A proposal that includes duct changes or a new electrical circuit covers work that may be absent from another price. Ask for the difference in writing.
Compare the amount you owe
A price with rebate discounts already deducted cannot be compared directly with a price before those discounts. Ask each contractor to show the full price and explain every deduction.
