What the rating describes
AFUE describes annual fuel-use efficiency under a standardized test. It does not describe how often the furnace will run in a particular dual fuel installation or predict your household bill.
Check the venting work
A condensing furnace has different venting and condensate requirements from a noncondensing furnace. The installation needs a suitable route and drainage arrangement. Ask what changes are included.
Compare the complete options
Ask for compatible furnace and heat pump combinations with the installation work listed. The more efficient furnace may involve different work at the house; the lower equipment price may not be the lower complete installation price.
