When the house already has ducts

A ducted heat pump may work with the existing distribution system, after checking its condition and airflow. The indoor equipment still needs to fit the proposed system.

When an addition needs its own solution

A ductless system can serve an addition or another area where extending ducts is difficult. Indoor unit placement and the route to the outdoor unit are part of the installation.

Plan the room coverage

One indoor unit does not automatically condition every closed room on a floor. Discuss doors, room layout and where the air needs to go before deciding on the number and type of indoor units.
